Not much to say here which is evidenced by the lack of photos we have for this place. Very much like Urumchi, though a bit smaller and with a less vibrant Uighur community. We spent most of our time here in a cheap hotel that included things such as sparadic hot water in the showers and sandbags as pillows. I was sick (again, I know), while Russ and Ev managed to find out that our trip to Tibet was all but impossible considering the time we had in China. Apparently, you need a permit which you can only get in China and takes up to 10 days to process. Oh, and once in Tibet you can only go to Lhasa, the capital, and must pay (a reasonable $800) to tour the city. No thanks. So we decided to continue on with the trip as planned an make our way to SE Asia a little earlier (or right on schedule as we were already behind a week or so).
