We arrived in Tbilisi after passing through customs without too much fuss. We even met a nice young Georgian ready to practice his English on Americans and talk about the latest and greatest rap music album. Apparently Georgia has yet to hear that 50 Cent and Eminem stink. Russ and I were joined on our bus by a Turkish woman, and two of the funniest Turks you will ever meet. As we drove into Tbilisi, the blasted Turkish music from the surround system, danced, and honked and yelled at seemingly all the local woman. It was a great way to enter a new country and say goodbye to another. After being confronted by local taxi drivers who were not to happy with our refusals to ride with them, we eventually caved and found our way to a local home-stay. We arrived later at night, but were greeted happily by three generations of Georgian women. We did most of the negotiating with the 9 year old, who spoke excellent English and showed us to our room. We spent the next few days exploring the city, enjoying Georgian meat dumplings and fried cheese bread, and getting lost. We were even able to fit in a night at the Georgian bath. Fortunately for your sakes, no pictures of this are attached. The only downer in our time in Georgia was finding out all the flights we could take to Kazakhstan were full, sold-out, or way later in the week which wouldn't allow us to meet up with Evren on time. So, we accepted the only option we could to get to Kyrgyzstan which was to fly back to Istanbul, surprise Evren at the airport, and fly together to Bishkek.
