So after surviving Tomatina and making our way to Alicante, Spain we flew to Iceland. Needless to say, the change in weather and scenery was dramatic. We went from mid 80s to high 40s in the matter of a few hours.
I'm not sure if this screwed with our systems, but we all were in definite need of some relaxation when we got to Iceland and that is exactly what we got. We started our first full day by driving over to the world famous hotsprings, the Blue Lagoon (check out Google images for better pictures of it than we could take). While it was cold and raining, it was nice to dip into some naturally hot water, put on an ex-foliating facial scrub, sit in the sauna, and just try and recover.
We spent the next few days driving around Southern Iceland in our rental car seeing all the major sites like the original Geyser (its actually called Geyser), Gulfoss falls, and some of the largest glaciers in the world.
After three nights camping, we were all ready to leave Iceland (the second most expensive country in the world behind Japan) and journey back to somewhere a little more cosmopolitan.
Pictures are forthcoming, we promise!
