Yodelai- Yodelai- Yodelai- Hi- Hoo, (ok I have no idea how to spell that but hopefully you know what I mean)
Well, I had a very exciting weekend. We arrived by bus, four hours away to find out that not only were we climbing Yellow Mt. the next day, but we were in a big celebration/competition. It was a International Mountaineering Race. It was a complete surprise to be handed team member passes with numbers and names and also a cloth number to pin on your shirt. We were also given international team shirts that read China Obile from our sponsors-- China Mobile. We woke up at 5 am to take showers, eat a good healthy breakfast--that consisted of the traditional China breakfast of fried breads, beer, and cigarettes- (just kidding with ya... there was no fried breads) No we ate our bean paste cake and hot tang and rode up to meet our rivals. There was one man known as "Calves" , well because his calve muscles were bigger than his thighs and there were plenty of serious men with tiny little shorts that were ready to go. Women got a ten minute head start so off we went to the starting line and got began our trot to the top. 7.5 KM, and over ten thousand steps, most of which were very vertical. It was tough. It took me 2 hours and 13 min. The winner took 49m. We ate at the top and then climbed some more t0 reach Lotus Peak. We were just waiting for the Dark Lord Sauron to start the storms and make go into the mt.- (for Lord of the Rings dorks). Any ways- it was absolutely amazing. Not only the scenery but just accomplishing the climb. The next day we went to Huizhou village, saw a bridge that was in Crouching Tiger hidden Dragon and some gorgeous architecture. I only have four weeks! Miss you. let me know whats going on with you. bye bye.
