A bit more negotiating of freeways with the odd wrong turn and we were on Highway 1 heading to Malibu. We saw some very impressive gates but not much behind them and the area around it seemed quite untidy. Given that the beaches were very lovely and the coast itself very scenic. We carried on up the coast and made our final stop at Morro Bay around 5pm. A really pretty seaside town. Tried a few accomodation places out and nearly died at the prices but found a very tidy moderate type accomodation place Anchor Inn, right near the sea and were very comfortable. Free wireless again so go to Skype the girls which was awesome.
We are getting use to the driving and today I was just amazed by the size of the vehicles, it is like everything takes up twice the space needed, huge big Dodges etc all going way past the speed limit. I am so easily amused I keep wanting to photograph the black and white LAPD cars and the yellow school buses!!
Thanks Wayne for the loan of the Ipod we are cruising along to such a great range of music....
Well the decision was made to head North following some good advice from Bill last night and looking at maps etc in the morn we decided to head toward San Francisco and Yosemite. First stop was the area of Venice to have a look at the beach - hugely unimpressed! quite messy, not many people and just junky markets. There was a great fresh food market as we drove in though so got some fruit which makes a welcome change from everything else that seems incredibly processed. Breakfast was a bagel that seemed to come out of somewhere complete with egg and bacon and then just get heated! Cam went with the locals though and had a donut.. yuck not my idea of breaky. Anyhow was good to see this area which is the original muscle beach of Arny fame. There is a big outdoor, very rusty, gym and all these outdoor sports places - pat a ball, hand ball, basket ball etc etc.
