We woke up early and departed the hotel at 05:40 to be at the Taj in time for the sunrise viewing. The sun's rising caused to Taj to change colors. In addition, we avoided the crowds and the mid-day temperatures. At 06:00, it was already hot.
We had an excellent two hour walk around the complex, where we took many pictures, some of which are attached.
We returned to the hotel, had breakfast, then checked out and departed for our return trip to Delhi. We all had varying degrees of the Delhi belly (stomach bug). Even our driver, a native of the area, got sick from his dinner last night. He was in pain during the whole four plus hour drive back to Delhi
On our return drive to Delhi, Randy, with the help of his friend Branko, was able to reschedule our return flight to Bangkok for later tonight rather than tomorrow.
Branko kindly offered to let us stay at his lovely apartment in a nice part of Delhi while awaiting our late depature. He even prepared a nice lunch for us and let us use his guest bedroom and shower while we passed the time before going to the airport. And as if that weren't enough, he even had his driver take us to the airport.
SPECIAL NOTE FOR BRANKO: We would like to take this opportunity to thank Branko once again for his help and hospitality during our stay in India. Without his help, the trip would have been much more difficult. If ever he comes to Louisiana, we would be happy to have him and his wife Jackie as our guests.
We then went through the ritual of checking in and going through security, customs and immigration and ended up spending nearly three hours waiting for our 01:05 flight departure.
