Oh my god what a night! If it wasn't the seals barking away it was a bloody fog horn going off every 10 seconds. That's right, every 10 bloody seconds. Once everyone was going to sleep in bed it all began. The seals in the bay barked at each other ALL NIGHT. And this really annoying noise went off every 10 seconds. We found out this morning that it was a fog horn. Who the hell decided it was a good idea to put an RV park next to a working harbour!
Dispite our reservation of last night, in the morning light the RV park was actually ok. Waking up to a fog on the water and a lighthouse in the distance was pretty cool.
Micheal got a bit worried when he saw Katherine come out of the toilet/shower block, grab a stick and go back in. But turns out she had clogged the shower drain with sand and was trying to unblock it. Yeah right Katherine!
We were close to the Oregon border so were looking forward to seeing the Oregon Coast today.
Got on the road by 9.15am and headed for the oldest lighthouse in Oregon. Can't remember the name at the moment. GPS ended up taking us 3 miles down a single lane badly corrugated road to someones house. Literally. We ended up driving into someone's driveway and had to turn around. The dog was pleased to see us. If there was anyone home we don't know. We think they were probably standing like stunned mullets in their house watching a 30ft Cruise America RV turning around in their yard!
Back on the 101 and following our own noses we made it to the lighthouse.
We had lunch and took photos then headed north again.
We are staying tonight at the William Tugman State Park. It is a lovely spot with water and electric hook up for on $20. A vast difference in price from our first night.
Katherine took the kids for a swim in Eel Lake (no eels) and had a lot of fun swimming out to a log.
Tonight we have had wraps for tea, using just a few of the 170 disposable plates we have bought for $3. Who the hell wants to do dishes while on holiday!
The we have finally toasted marshmallows over a good fie with sticks found by Ryan and whittled by Mr Farndale.
Back to wine and beer by the fire again. Night, night.
