Where I stayed
Hawaii!! It was SO exciting to pull into, not only Honolulu,....but USA! We kept screaming BORN IN THE USA and PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN all week. My friends and I spent the first day traveling around Oahu on mopeds looking straight out of Dumb and Dumber. We were definitely on freeways going 30 mph. We wanted to get to the Dole Plantation and the North Shore. After an hour of driving and not making much progress we gave up. We stopped at Pearl Harbor, but sadly it was closing. Even though our day was sort of a bust, it didnt burst our bubble. We were back in AMERICA! We would go into little quickie marts and see Pop Tarts and get excited! I don't even like Pop-Tarts that much! BUT...if I wanted...I could have some
Day 2 I spent the afternoon eating a cheeseburger, watching football, and talking on the phone!! And it was wonderful! So nice being able to use my cell phone again. The best part about being in Hawaii was seeing the thousands of Wisconsin fans who had come in for the Badger football game! Turns out the Badgers were playing Hawaii that day. I yelled at every Wisconsin fan I saw. So pumped to be around my people! I mean, it was enough to be around people who spoke the same language, but Wisconsin people!! So exciting. My friends and I decided to head to the stadium to tailgate for the game. We couldn't stay for the game because the ship was leaving at 6PM. My friends were nervous because we didn't bring anything to tailgate with. I told them not to worry...these are Wisconsin fans...the friendliest people in the US! Sure enough, the first tailgate we stop at didn't let us stand there for more than 10 seconds before demanding we fill up cups from their keg and stay for the brats that they had found to grill. My friends all want to move to Wisconsin now.
That night we headed to the "Big Island" of Hawaii. We docked in Hilo. Hilo is a very rainy city and hard to navigate without a car. Sadly, they did not allow us to rent cars
We did finally depart Hawaii and had to take finals. We had a fancy dinner/dance one of the nights. Also, I can officially say I am a graduate! They even had a ceremony for the 15 graduates!! It was awesome. We all wore our rice hats from Vietnam as our "caps". My friends each held letters spelling out WE <3 BRIDGET and they went crazy when I went up for my SAS diploma. They were the best.
But...all good things must come to an end. It was a hard couple days knowing that we would all be done with this amazing voyage. It was so difficult to get off the ship for the last time
We had fun in San Diego and I can officially say I circumnavigated the world. It was the best time of my life and thank you for following along. Can't wait to see you all very soon. Have a wonderful Christmas ! ! ohh....and lets all join together to find me a job. :) Time for the next chapter of my life.
Our theme song...
