The main task for today was managing the 363 mile journey up to Monterey where we'll stay for 3 nights while we cheer on our favourite riders in the Laguna Seca MotoGp.
After a lazy start to the overcast but pleasantly fresh morning, mainly due to the major power cut stopping our air conditioning, we set off on the I5 about 1pm.
Heavy traffic through LA and beyond slowed our progress and then forest fires further north virtually stopped us. Temperatures reached a sweltering 102'F, so being in a air con car was a blessing.
Closer to Monterey we stopped to look at the tree memorial for James Dean who died in a car accident 30th Sept 1955, coincidentally my 16th birthday. Remember it well?
Reached hotel 9.30ish ready for bed. It'll be noisy because of lots of bikes arriving for the race.
