Contrary to many beliefs, yes I do work... sometimes. But as a JET I just couldn't pass the 3 day week at the end of September by without going somewhere.
Singapore was absolutely amazing! A westernized city, submersed with Asian culture. Transportation was efficient, on time, and well kept. Food was delicious with a blend of flavors from all the different cultures co-inhabiting the city.

A 3 day week means only 3 days of nenkyu (paid leave) have to be taken in order to have quite a lengthy holiday experience. So, I hoped on a plane with fellow JET Rachel Beck, and took off to Singapore and Malaysia for 8 days.Temple Artwork
We flew into Singapore from Japan and spent 2 days there before busing up to Malacca for a bit, then on to Penang for 3 days, and finally to Kuala Lumpur, from which we flew back to Japan. Singapore was absolutely amazing! A westernized city, submersed with Asian culture. Transportation was efficient, on time, and well kept. Food was delicious with a blend of flavors from all the different cultures co-inhabiting the city.
Lantern Wishes
One section of town (Orchard road) had all of our favorite western stores, shops, and restaurants from back home, while another areas had Little India, and a China Town. The city was clean, and bustling at all times with people from various cultures, races, and religions. Taking a Shower
We didn't have much time in Singapore, but we made sure to hit up the hot spots such as Merlion Park for pictures with the lion fountain, both China Town and Little India for delicious food and cheap markets,
2 Singpore Slings please...
and of course the bar where the Singapore Sling originated for none other than the best Singapore Sling ever!!!
