Yatta! we found a kaitenzushi (sushi on a conveyor belt) joint near gakuentoshi (my station.) I got somewhat sketchy directions from an JET who has been living here a while and myself and two other new JETs went off in search of endless sushi.
After getting off at the wrong stop, wandering around, and asking a number of people for directions, we managed to work up an enormous appetite for the sushi feast before us. I would like everyone to rest assured- I now have a kaitenzushi place to take all my visitors!
We pigged out on endless sushi and complimentary green tea until late hours of the night before we stagged out of the restaurant stuffed to the brim to make our journey back home.
I managed to eat 10 places worth of sushi and left no room for the lovely desserts that later came around on the belt. My favorite piece of sushi was one with an entire crab leg on it. Honorable mentions went to the tuna and salmon.
While I fully understand this was a chain sushi restaurant and definitely didn't serve top notch sushi, it was better than any sushi I've had in a long time...
