Hello All,
I arrived to Perth International airport after a ten hour flight from Tokyo!
I managed to sleep for about 6 hours of it because they were showing really crap movies and I was not very impressed. I was sitting in a two seat window seat on my own so I could streech out- that may have helped!
I got a shuttle bus straight to Freemantle-Freo and headed to the old firstation hostle. They told me there would be a room in an hour but after 90 mins I asked what was going on and was told there was no room but I could sleep on the couch, so I high tailed it down the road to Pirates and got a bed there. I am in a six bed dorm with 3 other guys and two girls- all are brits apart from me and one of the girls. The hostel is cool and the place is packed because there is a street performace fesitval on in Freo at the monent and it is very busy!
The hostel has all you need- shower and all that craic! There is also a kitchen when everyone has their own food box and fridge bag, so you can keep and make your own food! There is also a court yard where everyone hangs out! It doesn't get that much sun but it is 31 degrees here, so that is not a bad thing!
I have met a few cool people in the hostle and a couple of dick heads- one English guy asked why people in Belmullet sold donkeys on the side of the road- I asked why some English people eat Jellied eel, as it was equaly disgusting and he just shut up! There is also one Scotish guy who asked me why we all hated Protestants and I told him to look in the mirror for his answer- He did not like that reply, but it shut him up-Gimpus maximus!
So overall the hostel is cool.
I have applied for my tax number and will set up a bank account on Tuesday and I should be pretty much set up for working! There does not seem to be that much arround, so I think I will hang around here for another week or so and then if I can't find anything I will head into Perth! hopefully there should be something soon! Its heading into autum here, so alot of the backpackers are starting to head to Broome and other towns to the north!
I have just been walking round the town finding out where diffrent places are- like Coles, and the bank and stuff! It is a nice sized town with lots of shops and restaurants and cafes! I would actually like to stay here for a while,. so hopefully I will find some half decent work!
Thats it really for the moment! I will do another entry when I have explored a bit more!
laters!
