Just a Dream? Sweat?

June 16, 2010

I went to bed last night and the next thing I know I am saddling up a horse on a hot and humid morning in the heat of Florida. I had quite a bit of money and was looking for a good time. My destination was Orlando and a place where there were plenty of women looking for a good time. Rosie O'Grady’s is where I landed and this saloon had it all, music, booze, and women. This is where I ran across a man named Sykes.

Sykes was hanging out with a bunch of plump women telling his tale of his wife who was too skinny for his likes. He did not like the fact that his women, (Delia was her name), was doing laundry for all these white folks in town. He also said that he sometimes got so angry with her, that he would hit her from time to time and would taunt her with snakes. Sykes said she hated snakes and one time he used his black bull whip to play a prank on Delia and it scared her to death.

I took an interest in the story and the next morning I met up with Sykes and headed back two hours ride to his place. I met Delia, she was fine woman but looked to be a bit worn and didn’t say anything just nodded her head. I headed for town and decided to stay a few days and thought about Delia and how she was treated by Sykes. I felt really bad for her, but then when I was having a drink at the bar I heard a stranger say that Sykes was found dead by Delia in their home. Apparently he was snake bit by a rattler and Delia had found him but it was too late to get help. Sometimes what goes around comes around I guess, and I felt better for Delia knowing that she would be better off on her own physically and mentally

I woke up from my dream as my radio had gone off, and something weird had happened. The song that was playing was, Save a Horse Ride a Cowboy. Was this just a coincidence or was there some strange connection, I guess I will never know.

Very creative! And I love your picture. Good analysis of Sykes. He was such a creep, wasn't he?
