I took a night bus from Qingdao to Shanghai. A bit cramped to say the least but managed to get a decent sleep. Didn't find the people in Shanghai as friendly as other places I'd been to in China. Still it's a great city to walk around and take in the skyline, especially at night time when the Bund is lit up by all the huge buildings towering on either side of the river. Went to Yu Yuan park in the centre of town. Had a cup of Chinese tea in a tea shop there, previous customers to this place included the Queen of England and Bill Clinton. It was a nice cup of tea but it was no Lyons gold blend...
Checked out the excellent museum in Shanghai as well, it's on the list of 1000 places to see before you die. I'd give it 10 out of 10 on my museum scale. Shanghai was an expensive city but there was a really good food stall right by my hostel with excellent food for next to nothing. Did I mention that I'm eating all my meals with chopsticks now? I never thought I would get the hang of it but there ya go.
After 2 days I'd seen and done all I wanted to do in Shanghai so I decided to move west to Xi'an on a 16 hour train journey!
