Took an overnight train from Beijing to Quingdao. Quingdao is on the east coast of China. This is where the sailing for the Olympics will take place. Like Beijing this place is gripped with Olympic fever. The beaches here are packed full of Chinese sun worshippers. The water didn't look too clean so I didn't take a dip. Looking back from the beach the skyscrapers dominate the skyline reminding you your in the most populated country on earth, even if this is supposed to be just a little beach town. Hung out with Jeff (America) and Julie (Denmark) for 4 days here. The famos Chinese beer Tsingtao is brewed here. Did a tour of the brewery which was really good, would put the Guinness Storehouse to shame.
On our last night in Quingdao we met up with an English guy, a few girls from Cork and a few girls from Sweden that were staying in the same hostel and we hit the hostel bar. We were all going our separate ways the next day so we let our hair down. Jeff let his hair down a bit too much and slept through his alarm clock and woke up the next day an hour after his flight had taken off. I had no such problems as my bus to Shanghai was not leaving till 7 the next night!!
