TUESDAY, 18th July

I had a bad night. For some unknown reason I woke at about 2am and my heart was all a-flutter. An erratic beat. Not fast like that which happened to Anne in Carcassonne but irregular. I kept checking my pulse and imagining all manner of ailments until I eventually dropped off to sleep.

WEDNESDAY, 19th July

I still felt weird and jumpy as I breakfasted so Anne told me to not do anything all day. Just sit on the sofa, read and watch television while she ran around after me. I did and I read a lot of my book and Anne made me comfortable, made my lunch and came running every time I whistled Our cottage and car..red and black
Our cottage and car..red and black
. I must use that ruse again. We did go for a walk to town later (I booked an hotel in Amsterdam over the internet) and by evening my heart had settled down a bit. Much to Anne's exasperation, by the next day it was practically back to normal, ie. a regular slow beat. She was still taking things easy from her dose of heart flutter. Strange how it happened to us both within a short period of time and in the middle of the night. We are complete opposites though. Whilst her heart rate is normally very high anyway mine has always been down in the 60's. Zombie like. It explains much of my lazy attitude to life in general.

We put it down to excesses of fatty foods, alcohol and sugar and no exercise. We had been very naughty with our diet. Lots of eating out meant lots of fats and alcohol. I put mine down to the last of the rhubarb crumble I had eaten the night before. It had looked a little off when I ate it but I don't  really know how that would have affected my heart. If I had thrown up I could understand it but...

Anyway, after watching The Negotiator  on TV until midnight I went to bed and slept solidly till morning.
