A day of rest. We went nowhere all day. I caught up on some of this log...the early days of the Trafalgar tour...or read a lot of a wonderful book by Stephen Fry called Hippopotamus. We managed to tune the radio into a station called La Marseil which played pop music of the 70's & 80's...mostly American tracks. Anne was able to play Russell Watson ad infinitum on the CD player. I know the words to all the tracks now! I now find time to write up my old diaries too and have adopted the garden table and chair on which to do it.
Australia v Brazil that night. They lost 0-2 but what a mighty performance. Anne came with me and we were the only couple who were watching. The bar lady kept us supplied with beer and wine and kept the TV tuned to the correct channel for us. The few patrons in the bar had been watching Who Wants to be a Millionaire. [We have now seen that show in Australian, English, Italian, French and previously in Indian and Malay. I can't wait to see the Irish version.] Pork chops and chips for dinner with a glass of wine kindly donated by Paul upon our arrival followed by a French Mars bar. [I had no idea Mars bars varied so much in size. In Sydney I was used to a 40gm bar and figured they were good value for money compared to many of the other choc bars which were often only 35gm. Here in Felines they were 45gm. I picked up a 50gm bar in Carcassonne later in the week and more recently in Ireland I was astounded to find that the regular size was 55gm. And I have not even started comparing the so-called 'giant' sizes.]
