I don't think I could have chosen much of a better way to spend my last weekend in Canada, than with some of my best friends / family, even if it was spent at one of the worst campgrounds that exists in British Columbia.  I guess that is just a matter of personal opinion, seeing as how most people didn't seem to mind the fact that the giant gravel pit that we pitched our tents on was only 15 or so meters from a set of high volume railway tracks.  Some fellow campers seemed to solve this problem by giving up on the idea of sleep altogether, simply choosing to remain at maximum volume through the entire night, even though their partners in conversation were but a few feet away.   No matter which crowd you fit into, only one thing was a steady constant throughout the grounds, and that was the desire to let go of the frustrations of the week and let it all out.  Well I guess on Saturday, there was also the togas, which were the chosen theme of the evening, but even they were only a tool used in the grand scheme of things.  With hours of relaxing on the sand banks and even managing to not get too badly burned, there weren't many tough times.  Actually, there were countless positive aspects to the weekend which made it one to remember, and even those that were "interesting" moments at the time, just add to the flavour.  Some of the memories will include 40 degree weather, the Thompson river, Beerzbie (which is apparently called Friznock in Winnepeg) and of course, the crew.  Although I was one of the only ones to not go rafting (along with Thompson on the Thompson, the champions of the banks), I think it goes without question that the third annual Hyak rafting extravaganza was a great success, and I hope it is only the beggining of a great tradition that goes strong for years to come.
