The traditional weather of rain in Vancouver did not disappoint in the slightest, but that did not hinder us from getting out and seeing the city. Our first stop was the Capilano Suspension Bridge
which is a simple suspension bridge crossing the Capilano River. The current bridge is 140 metres long and 70 metres above the river. Once across the bridge we walked around the Treetops Adventure route which is a series of bridges suspended within the trees. The highlight of the park for us was the Cliff Walk bridge which suspends out in a half circle formation. Next we took a short drive around Stanley Park. The park offers great views of Vancouver, totem poles, a rugby field (Brett somehow found), and the Brockton Point Lighthouse. That evening we ventured down to the trendy Gastown district to enjoy a few beers to celebrate Fiona's nephew Campbell's birthday. On our way to the pub we took a quick look at the Steam Clock which releases steam from the top every 30 minutes. We concluded our day with a filling meal at the Spaghetti Factory.
The weather on our second day was rain, rain, and more rain. With the weather not being ideal we headed to the popular Robson Street to do some shopping. After Fiona finally found herself some boots, and Gordon purchased a new camera (with some persistent and very successful negotiating) we made our way to the upscale suburb of Yaletown. We wondered around some shops before having some dinner and beers at the Yaletown Brewery. That evening concluded like all of our nights with a few beers/wines/gins back in the hotel room.
