It was raining when the boys drove out of the farm at
5 am. The racecar carefully loaded into the trailer along with a huge toolbox.
Jo and I continued to sleep until a more suitable hour. Since Jo
was feeling unwell with a head cold, which she thinks, she picked up on our
flight from Seattle. The man in the seat behind her had his air vent
turned so it sprayed cold air over Jo's head, and she thought it was just part
of the planes aircon. It wasn't till the next morning she realized where
it was coming from and managed to turn it off. She was quite miserable
and decided to stay in the RV and nurse herself while I went to Thunder Road to
watch the racing. The racing was on a small 1/4 mile track and was non-stop
action from the moment we got there till when we left. I had a pit pass
which allowed me to enter the pits, you sure had to have your wits about you as
those cars came flying in. There were multiple classes racing and while I
loved the class Dave races in, it was the smaller classes that had the most
accidents. (which is why so many people go to these events right!) Anyway Dave
was successful in the heats and made it to the main event of the day which was
100 laps, we saw plenty of cars leave the track, catch fire and spin out, all
in a day of racing.
