DATE: Sunday July 13, 2008 - Wed. July 16, 2008
LOCATION: Nashville to Fall Creek Falls State Park Resort
MILES TRAVELLED: Not Sure
WHERE WE ARE STAYING: At the State Park Resort
WHAT IT COSTS AND INCLUDES: $20/night
DEISEL PRICE: US$ $ 4.67
WHAT WE SAW: Lots of people camping in this state park
OUR STORY: Well it took me awhile to get away from the Outlet Mall, funny that. Brent can never figure out why it takes me so long. The good thing is that the RV was right there in the parking lot and Brent was stealing signal and doing some good trip planning so I wasn't feeling guilty at all
Once on the road it was pretty good until we got to this RESORT State Park. It has an 18-hole golf course ($22.00 all day), mountain biking and hiking trails. Olympic size outdoor pool ($3.00 charge) a great swimming hole so lots to do.
What was different is that if you pre-registered (for a $10.00 charge) you were in a different area from the people who just show up, and it was busy. We managed to find a spot no one else wanted cause it only had 20amps of power instead of 30 or 50 amps. For you non-RVing types that means I cant run the microwave, hair dryer and air-conditioning all at the same time, AS YOU DO. So we were sweet! We positioned our selves into the trees so the slides would come out but not the awning, oh well. There were 3 sites all together will minimal power so no one wanted those and on the other was a family of four from Knoxville Tenn.
The following morning I was off to golf and really enjoyed the course. Apparently it is ranked in the top 25 public courses in the US.
I dragged myself home for lunch at 1pm only to find Brent standing next door having a good ol' time.
That afternoon on the advice of the neighbours (who knew the area) we cycled the lake and hiked across a swing bridge and down into a stream that was cool and refreshing.
We sat around our first campfire, this trip watching the lightening bug blink off and on. We Love to watch those little critters.
Next morning it was mountain biking up a 7-mile track that we both managed not to fall off on and once at the top who should call from Madrid Spain but our Amanda. How cool is that.
This location was not about the place (which was pretty special) but about the family from Knoxville Tenn who made it a memorable visit. Hi Jordan and Macey.
