We arrived Thursday night and after setting up camp we drove a mile down the road for dinner at John A's, a great little place with good Nashville music. Brent finally tried the catfish, although Jo wouldn't even consider it. It wasn't bad actually, rather bland being a fresh water fish, most are farm raised, so you do wonder what they have been feed.
Saturday, I dropped Jo of at one of her favorite stores and headed for the bike shop to get the bike repaired, ended up spending some time there chatting to the guys and in the end the bike was almost as good as new and I was only charged for the parts.
The seat that got so ground down as it dragged along the highway is now a talking point in the bike shop!!
Saturday night saw us at the Grand old Opry, some of the music was great, most what you would call "very" country, with alot of banjos and fiddles, the adjacent hotel is a tourist attraction all by itself, it has the largest attruim, actually three, I have ever seen and even has a man made river running thru it, a great place to cruise around while we waited for the traffic to die down before heading back to the RV.
Sunday saw us downtown with all the other tourists , where we dropped into a number of bars, had a beer and listened to some music, we visited the Ryman theatre and that evening went to the Bluebird Cafe. This was an absolute highlight!!! it is a small cafe in a strip mall outside of downtown, certainly not a tourist type place, and there we listened to 4 song writers play their own music. Dont think that we are talking about nobodies,- imagine listening to the original versions of songs that Stevie Nick, Chicago, and many others have performed, in a very small cafe. It was so great that we asked if we could stay for the second performance and as luck would have it we got a table.
I would return to Nashville just to go to the Bluebird, you can visit them on the web.
We are now back on the road, well sort of, Jo is shopping at an outlet mall and i am stealing someones wifi signal , while sitting in the RV, we are both happy with this situation!
