G'day Y'all
Today we head for Vicksburg the site of a major civil war event. The North took several years to capture Vicksburg. It was a key to controlling the Mississippi, and subsequently the Unions victory.
The mayor of Vicksburg, when asked if he intended to surrender said to the Northerners "Mississippians don't know, and refuse to learn ......if Commodore Farragut......can teach them, let him come and try." Which the North did three times.

Yesterday we spent a few hours at Frogmore Plantation,an original cotton plantation, which still produces to this day, it was very interesting and informative.
Frogmore has been in operation from the 1800's.

We saw an original Cotton Gin, Slave row and 19 dependencies. Really worth the drive from Natchez.

When we arrivd day before yesterday there were maybe 5 other RV's here but now I would say the park is 90% full (197 sites) it was like a parade yesterday evening with all the arrivals, 4th of July is a big event!! Mostly from Mississippi and Louisiana it would appear.
But what is amazing is that many of these RV people travel with golf carts so they can get around. Even if it is 25 feet away they climb on into their golf cart and off they go.
You know how we may go for a walk in the evening, well here they drive around in the golf cart instead. Round and round the park looking and chatting. Fascinating
The family next door are here with other family and friends. They have about 4 kids.... ranging in age from 7 to about 15. Last nights dinner for the kids was bread with a cheese slice between, a bag of chips and some sort of soft drink. This morning out came the chip again and then packaged sweet bun thing. The coffee maker was churning out the coffee and not sure what the kid had to drink.
Maybe we need to have a new type of abuse. Nutritional abuse. Come on, how hard is it to make some real food people.
