DATE: Friday, June 6, 2008
LOCATION: Gainesville Florida
MILES TRAVELLED: Into Town approx 7 miles
WHERE WE ARE STAYING: Payne Prairie State Park.
WHAT IT COSTS AND INCLUDES: US$ 16.00 Very clean and includes electricity and water.
DEISEL PRICE: US$ 4.69
WHAT WE SAW:. A woody the woodpecker, a snake, turtles, alligators, and a lot of University of Florida students.
OUR STORY: Today we awoke to another very hot and sunny day
Gainesville is home to the University of Florida and this university is huge and everything is "swamp" this or "gator" that. Easy to drive around and very nicely laid out.
We got a whole ham for 99 cents a pound or $2.20 a kilo what a bargin and it tastes great. Also T bone steaks are 4.99 / lb or 12.00/ kg Food is really very inexpensive and the variety of product is mind numbing. We are not going to starve.
We decided to spend the rest of the day catching up on manual reading and blog information.
Brent has new reading material for the morning visit to the bathroom, the owners manual to the truck. It is 670 pages long and all in English.
Although Bill and Audrey left the RV and Truck in tip top shape Brent has been trying to figure out the solar panel and how they were charging the batteries. Well he was THRILLED to find a fault and have the opportunity to fix something. A quick visit to the Auto electrician and those solar panels are working a treat.
Off to Titusville Fl (Cape Canavaral) and a NASA rocket launch on Sunday.

the junk store
. We needed to get some laundry done and this state park does not have washers and dryers (previously the state parks had them ) so we drove to Gainesville did the laundry and went looking for some second hand bikes for the RV. Being a University town and bikes being the mode of transport I thought this would be a great location for looking. Not so.
