We left Lake Tahoe and headed for San Francisco!!

The Traffic on the highways in California is intense to say the least, and because of this they also have the most badly worn and rough roads we have encountered. Just outside Sacramento the Eagle had a blow out, the pot holes and cracks in the road finally won the battle. We pulled off onto the side of I-80 and called roadside assistance. About 100 yards further up the shoulder was another 5th wheel with a problem....... another 100 yards in front of that was ANOTHER trailer with a blow out... this was insane! Anyway 30 minutes later the roadside guy turned up and put the spare on. Sadly enough the tyre that blew out was not one of the badly worn ones..... we headed straight for a tyre shop and bought 2 new tyres.... $250.

We selected a state campground that we called that said they had one place left if we arrived soon, this was before the blow out..... we went there anyway on the off chance that the space was available still. Our luck held this time they had one spot available. We got on line and reserved another spot in the same park for the next night as Anthony Chabot Park is stunning! One morning there was deer outside the Eagle when we woke up and we saw lots of wild turkeys.

As it was early evening we decided to head straight into San Francisco which was about 30 minutes drive away, it was hard to believe that we could be in such a quite peaceful valley only 30 mins from downtown SF. We drove around a little and then headed out in order to be prepared to get up for a full day in San Francisco.

We walked and walked and walked, San Francisco is a walking city, we criss-crossed back and forth the city up and down the hills. Seeing Castro, Fisherman's wharf, Downtown etc etc. Brent has an old friend who moved to San Francisco 12 years ago. They have not seen or talked to each other in 14 years, a mutual friend (Guy, Ft Walton) put them in touch... we made arrangements to meet Chad Fox the following afternoon.

Chad and Brent immediately hit it off (again) and spent the whole evening catching up while Chad showed us more of the city, we had a fun filled time with him and another great day in San Francisco.

Unfortunately the campground was fully booked for the weekend so sad of heart we continued on......
