Well after a rather late start, 2pm, turn signal failure and map malfunctions we had not yet reached Mississippi.

We have made it a rule that we will not drive during the night unless in emergency, we are here to SEE the country and it seems the 1.2 million churches in Alabama.

We failed to get up in the morning and generally dragged out feet saying good bye to Guy. About 5 miles outside of Fort Walton Beach the turn signals decided to only flash once, which kind of defeats the point of them. The Eagle is little to big for hand signals...... so we pulled up at an auto part store, to see if we could fix it. We needed a new relay (flasher unit) and the one that fitted the beast was $20, all the others on display were about $3! So in 30 minutes we were off again and not quite so dangerous to other road users.

Shortly after we had a minor map malfunction that put us on the "extreme" scenic route, not a major problem but we did not make the Mississippi border and ended up staying in a very nice campground we found in one of our books.  We were a little worried about the "backwoods-ness" of the place but it worked out OK as we didn't actually encounter any people only churches every mile or so...  Where are all the people that go to all these churches??
