Hi (jens here)

Well after a 10 hour 3rd class train ride and 3and 1/2 hour boat ride we arrive on the island of Koh Phan-nang off the Thai east coast. On arrival here (the lonely planet says) you have to make a choice - do you want to party like a rock star or sleep like a baby ?? tough choice -- I always wanted to be a rock star. So we chose Had Rin, this is a european backpackers meeting place, where young, tanned and beautiful people overindulge. Too much sun, sea and booze. So um when in Rome......

Our evening started with us getting a drink and wanting to go with something local, we got a "bucket" each - which contains a small bottle of local whisky, concentrated red bull and coke all in one handy carry around size bucket equiped with straws. So we found a relaxed seat on the beach watching locals with fire sticks and listening to good music. Soon enough the first buckets where finished and we feeling stong so got a second.

We will never know if we finished that second bucket cause everything went pear shaped.

After a "power nap" on the beach we decided it was time to go home, not sure how we found our way home, but on arrival there we realised that Brendon had lost the room key on the beach. Being an almost impossible task to go back and look for it we went to sleep outside our room, Brendon on the ground and me in the hammock. Thankfully we got a replacement key from reception the next day.We spent the next day and half recoverinbg from this incident- later finding out that the whisky contained about 80% alcohol. Being a bit wiser and more responsible we went back to the beach -and ordered one bucket between us which we decided to to try and drink as slow as possible --- MISTAKE NUMBER 2.

Drinking slow means the ice melts, ice contains all the dodgey thai water and the next morning Brendon woke to go fishing and came back after about a hour??? Very unusual for Bren- saying he thinks his stomach is dodgy... this was the beginning of the end of our healthy stomachs. We spent the next 36 hours sleeping, Brendon in true brendon stlye manage to rid himself of the poison early on in the course of this epidemic. I on the other hand battled nausea for 3 days. We managed to make our way to Koh Toa where Brendon played some volleyball with the locals and did some deep sea fishing. I did some more really good snorkelling and now we are in bangkok... So you'll here from us soon
