I've been back to Los Angeles a few times.  But this return to the "mother land" was different.  The first thing I noticed was a loud cell phone talker on the bus after flying into LAX.  He was blah blahing about something and all of a sudden it comes rushing back.  I'm talking about the good "not so old anymore" US of A.  What a noisy bunch we are!  My pseudo Aunt, Candy, picked me up and I crashed with her and her lovely husband, Richard.  I love Candy and Richard.  Go Clutch!!  I had to pickup my car from Dov, my real cousin, and was fortunate to visit with a new member of that side of the family.  Menachem was only two weeks old when I spent time with Dov's brother, Yoey and his wife Sheria and new baby son. I spent the evening with Dov, his wife and kids, and a lovely bunch of dinner quests for Friday night Shabbat.  The dinner was filled with good wine, better talk, and great food.  It felt nice to be back in a place I could talk and people understood the subtleties of the conversation.

I headed off the next day to meet for lunch with my old buddy, Loren and too partake in the Halloween festivities for the evening.  Please refer to Halloween entry for full disclosure.  Must be 18 or older to enter...

The next morning I met up with some more "aunts and uncles".  Vicki and Micheal have known me from a tiny little person.  It was wonderful to see them and catch up.  I met with my old high school friend from Atlanta, John Paul Rice.  He's been out here in LA for almost nine years and I'm super proud of him.  He's already produced one movie and will start shooting then next one in a few weeks.  The whirl wind of people continued with super old friend Elise and her Man, more Candy, lunch with Sondra (my new spiritual adviser and super old family friend ;) and brother to Elise and superior old friend, Owen! And that's not even everyone I could have seen.  Somehow, in between all the wonderful people, I went to the park I grew up playing in, my elementary school, a night drive down Mulhulland Dr. and a smattering of childhood visions and memories.

Sometimes, you really CAN go home.... a little.
