I want to begin with the fact that my immediate family is small. It has always been my brother and I, and our mom and dad. Just the four of us, acting as a small, tight-knit, support group. The fact that we actually have a large extended family had eluded us for over thirty years. The time had come to meet, some for the first time, some of this extended family. Visiting NYC with my parents was already amazing, but after visiting new family, my time in the big apple was like no other. Strangely enough, our family was not complete since my brother was not with us. We missed him dearly and thought about Sky often.
After a few days in the city seeing shows, eating great food, and visiting landmarks that were in season, we took the last couple days of our trip to visit this extended family
The very next day, my parents and I, visited a whole new side of our family. My mother’s father’s brothers’ daughters’ family. Seriously. It turns out, we have some religon in our family after all. Zapora and Moisha are very Jewish, and between them have more kids then they can count. I got to meet two of the three sons and their daughter. All of who are around my age. All of the sons are rabbis and they all have children of varying young ages. What a wonderful time we had, discoving a whole new side to our family
There really isn’t anything like family. Especially the kinds you have never met and come to find a wonderful new part of your life. I’d like to give a special shout out to Facebook, for connecting people over time and space. I also, want to end this entry with a thank you to my own parents. Truly, the greatest people I have ever met and for whom I owe more then they could ever know, to my own happiness and success. Thank you and I love you.
