Hey guys as you can see Matty and I are in Austria. The town is called Salzburg and it is the birthplace of Mozart and the setting of the movie the sound of Music.
We left the small German town of Lindau yesterday after finally getting a swim. It only took an hour to reach Salzburg and the alps greeted us along the hole journey. It was a beautiful day which made the setting quite magic. Salzburg is gorgeous, a relatively small town beside a river. The old part of town consists of narrow cobblestoned laneways and a magnificent church sits in the centre. I swear the bells clang every 15 minutes l  but either way I like 'em and think it adds to the towns character.
After scoring another awesome park (the gods are on our side) we went for a stroll. A coffee sent our spirits into overdrive and we proceeded to take stupid photos all afternoon. We also noticed a huge screen and stage in the town square which has been set up for the Euro up soccer final tonight Salzburg

. Too good to refuse we decided to stay tonight as well for the game. We went to Mozarts old residence and ate some Haagan Daaz (The sixth and best food group). I emailed a few people on couchsurfing to see if any locals wanted to have a beer or coffee.
After walking in circles for half an hour Mat and I found a beer hall. It was cliche and everything we wanted out of a beer hall. It had 1 litre steins,  the beers were coming out of wooden barrels and everyone was getting rowdy. I bet Matt 5 € that he couldn't drink a litre in 3 minutes and he rose to the challenge. I got a message from a local girl who said her and her friend would come and meet us later in the night. We had drank 3 steins when the girls arrived and I was a little worried we might be a bit too rowdy for them.
It turned out that the ladies were from Brazil and were over here  as Au Pairs. Being Brazillian they were fun loving cool girls and of course not too bad on the eye. We hung out for a couple of hours before they went home. We arranged to meet up tonight at the soccer which should also be prettv fun. Afterwards Me and Matt hit a few bars and talked to locals all night (We've met like 5 tourists all trip, we can't believe it?). We woke up this morning a little dusty so we went down to the river to wash. The water was icy but that didn't stop Matty from urinating, shampooing, soaping and shaving all at the same time in front of the locall families on their Sundy walks + me

. He's really taken to this vagabond lifestyle and now insists on me calling him boxcar Matty (go figure). It was pretty sweet taking a dip in an icy river beneath the alps. Here we are now in the internet cafe, Mat has recieved another couchsurfing local who might meet up with us today and we are going to get our coffee hit very shortly. This is our only stop in Austria but it's still a memorable one. We're off to the Czech Republic tomorrow which is going to be interesting.
So yeah, everything is going great at this end. It feels like we're really into the groove of it all now. Take care and enjoy the cold winter for me (mohahaha).
