Alright I am really pissed off. I just typed for 90 minutes and then the computer decided to shut down Netscape. So you will now be getting a VERY abridged version of my last 7 days.

Things you should see between Vancouver and San Francisco...

The Crocodile Cafe in Seattle - like Sneaky Dee's west
The Capitol Building area in Olympia
Mount Rainier National Park - make sure to check out the grove of the patriarchs
Mount St. Helen's National Monument
Portland - beautiful city, check out Powell's City of Books
Cannon Beach - actually anywhere along the Oregon Coast is just incredible
The Oregon Dunes near Reedsport - like being on Tattooine
Redwoods National Park - do the Cathedral hike
The Avenue of the Giants - stop at Founders' Grove to see the Dyerville Giant
Mendocino - for the old folks, this place was where they filmed the Cabot Cove scenes for "Murder She Wrote", very pretty town
Mountain View Road between Boonville and Point Arena - wild twisty road, not for the faint of heart

In San Fran...
Telegraph Hill
House of Nanking in Chinatown - famous for good food and lousy service
City Lights Bookstore - beat generation stuff
Alcatraz - pretty neat
Golden Gate Bridge - like, duh!
North Beach
Russian Hill - where the switchbacks of Lombard street are
Pacific Heights - big Victorian mansions
The Fillmore Concert Theatre
Cartoon Art Museum
Wells Fargo Museum
Tattoo Art Museum
Fisherman's Wharf
Boudin's Bakery - clam chowder in a sourdough bowl
Parkway movie theatre - in Oakland, pizza and beer and movies

Okay, I know this doesn't give you a great idea of what I've been doing but all I have to say is that things have been incredible during my drive down the coast. The Oregon Coast is the unknown treasure of this continent. Portland is a neat town that just felt ergonomically suited to me. San Fran has been awesome, you could take a picture on every street corner. I now head northward back into wine country and then up to Tahoe.

Thank you very much to my Uncle George and Aunt Helen for the wonderful stay (and food) in Vancouver and thank you very much to Bev Farmes for lending me her couch and taking me to the movies in San Fran.

Man, I am still ticked at this stupid computer!!
