lisa and manolo
Before hitting the road in our trusty Chevy Corsa Classic, We walked up to the house that Manolo was staying to say goodbye.
russian stove. so cool
manolo's water tower
Such a cool little house complete with a Russian Stove, water tower and proper parilla.
We then swung by Suissa Colonia
you get the idea
, an old swiss colony, but it was pretty touristy and a bit cheesy so we turned right around. We stopped to have lunch at Cheddar, a great place that hangs over the lake. Once again, the weather was spectacular, about 80 degrees.
we love us some cheddar
The hour drive to Villa la Agostura winded around the lake through a much more arid terrain.
off to villa la angostura
When we arrived at our hotel, Puerto Sur it was everything we hoped for and more.
our little gem
It was situated about 10 minutes outside of town right on shore of Lake Nahuel Huape. After we layed out on the deck chairs while we took turns getting massages.
settling in
The view from our bedroom, and our bed
view from our bed
and our jacuzzi tub(!) decadence
was the best we've every had. Beautiful lake, incredible snow capped peaks. The hotel also has an indoor/outdoor pool that they keep heated at about 94 degrees. living the good life
aquatic tour
Again, all overlooking the lake (even the sauna had a view of the lake!)
We had a great dinner at Tinto Bistro that night. The next morning we slept in occassionaly waking up looking out at our view and falling back to sleep in our super cozy bed. After three days of 80 degree weather, today was overcast and a bit chilly.
We eventually drove up to the local ski resort, stopping along the way to view the Rio Bonito Cascada (waterfall)
cascada
. Once we got to the mountain
cerro bayo lodge
, we rode the chair lifts about 3/4 of the way up. Amazing view and really cool to check out the local ski resort. more chairlift
amazing chalet
view from cerro bayo
After a dip in our pool, sauna and jacuzzi, we went into town for dinner. My steak was just ok. We headed home to enjoy our room for one last night. very sad to leave (we actually tried to stay another night, but a group from Chile had rented the entire place for the weekend), but more adventures wait as we will be driving the Ruta de los Siete Lagos all day tomorrow on the way to San Martin De Los Andes. Should be incredible
