Newcastle-Gateshead is more like 2 cities combined into 1. we didn't get to Newcastle till about 3:30 because we met Taylore's uncle's friend Fiona who lives in Edinburgh. she drove us to the top of this mountain that had amazing views of Edinburgh and the ocean. she took us to lunch and i found out she works with a lot of actors, sang when she was younger, and loves musicals. (she cried she like Wicked so much) when she graduated from acting school she met Dame Judy Dench and Emma Thompson. Newcastle is cool. we saw the Black Tower and the Keep, which are the only 2 parts left of the castle. we alos saw the town wall which goes through what is now China town which is funny. across the river into Gateshead there are some amazing buildings that are art galleries and opera houses but they were closed because we got there so late. (Back to Fiona, her and i donded instantly over the whole musical thing.) did you know that the Sound of Music wasn't broadcast on TV in Austria until 2 or 3 years ago! of course they all loved it. the city of Newcastle is fun. at all the crosswalks there are black gates that have pictures of castles cut out in them. when we first got to Newcastle we didn't have a place to stay but luckily we found one close to the train station and it turned out to be really nice. we had McDonald's for dinner which was a nice reminder of home even though it is horrible for you. we really wanted to see Haydrian's wall which is the wall the Romans built to separate what of Britain they had conquorered and what part of Norther Britain they had not (the wall is in the movie King Arthur) but the wall was too far away and we didn't have enough time to see it.so we went to a pool (the game) lounge and relaxed instead.
