The end of Scotland

i can't believe July is over with! the last 2 days have been amazing. we got into Edinburgh on Monday afternoon and did a free 3 hour walking tour throughout the town. we saw so many things and learned so much about the history of the city, the capital of Scotland. we saw the cafe where J.K. Rowling wrote the first Harry Potter book and Harriets School for Boys that was the inspiration for Hogwarts. the story of Dr. Jeckell and Mr. Hyde came from one of the most successful thieves in all of Britain who lived in Edinburgh. the first serial killer is a serial killer in Edinburgh who sold the bodies of his victims to the medical University as cadavers and this is where we get the Body Snachers Story. Edinburgh Castle is on the top of an old colcanoe and we saw this on Tuesday. the castle is one of the highest points in the city so the view is fantastic. the Royal Mile is a road that starts at the castle at the top of the hill and ends at the Queen's Palace at the bottom of the hill where she stays when she's in Edinburgh. there is so much to do here i could definitely come back like with the city of Bath in England, where i defintely want to go there again. there are several free museums and art galleries and dividing old town from new down right down the middle of the whole city is a giant park with rose gardens and the world's first flower clock wher each year a theme for the clock is made using over 30,000 flowers! (side note: Harry Potter Book 7 made $54 million its first day, not bad for a book) Edinburgh is thea very hilly city so that on one side of the hill a building is only 4 stories high and on the other side of the that hill it is 11 stories high but it's the same building. we also learned about the Stone of Destiny and the story of William Wallace (Braveheart), and Mary Queen of Scotts and her rivalry with her cousin, Queen Elizabeth I. Taylore and Marianne kept wanting me to get a kilt but i said no. on the walking tour on Monday we met an Aussie named Kate, a girl from Toronto, and a guy from France named John who barely spoke any English. Overall, a great way to finish Scotland.
