We arrived in Sydney at about 6 in the morning after a very entertaining bus trip with our driver Tony. He was a spaniard (or some other meditterranean) on steroids. He loved using his little microphone to chat to us every now and then. Accommodation in Sydney is expensive. Even the backpackers are at the expensive end of budget. We found a room at Kanga Backpackers, dropped all our stuff and then headed off to the SCG to watch day four of the Aus/SA cricket test. That ticket cost quite a bit too and our budget for the next couple of days was blown out the water! At least we won the series!

We decided to do the touristy thing a booked a tour up to the blue mountains which are really more like hills but are pretty spectacular. Our bus driver Rod was a hilarious guy and kept us entertained the whole time. The pictures speak for themselves. We saw our very first Kangaroos up close - very cute.

The one thing that has really stood out for us on this trip in Oz is the beach. Oz had some really good beaches. You have a choice of beaches with waves or no waves. There is plenty of space on the soft sands. The water is mostly crystal clear and the temperature is just right for a refreshing swim. Between Bondi beach, Dee Why and Manly we have racked up a lot of beach time and topped up our tans.

Sydney is a really pretty city to walk around and there are loads of parks to sit and chill out in. The National gallery is also interesting to go and admire (or laugh at) the contempary art.

A bit of ozzie vocab:
Bottle o' = Liquor store
Milk bar = Cafe
Snags = Sausages
Shaun Tait = Built like Tarzan plays like Jane
