Our driver DK picked us up in the morning and gave us our new names for the trip - Bread (Brad), Naan (Ryan) and Chapati (becs)! The trip to Agra was eventful and gave us a taste of what was to follow in the coming weeks. First of all it takes twice the amount of time to get places because of the condition of the road, the amount of traffic and the fact that there are cows, donkeys, dogs, goats and camels all over the place! There are no rules on Indian roads - its every man for himself and hooters are used to warn drivers of you coming up from behind! Pretty entertaining and thrilling!

We arrived in Agra and decided to head straight to see the Taj Mahal in the afternoon. Words and pictures cannot describe the immensity and beauty of this white marble monument. Even our pictures, of which Ryan and Brad took many, do not do it justice. Even though there were loads of people there, it did not detract from the Taj's presence and it was very peaceful to stroll through the gardens there.

On the way back to our hotel we were roped in to go and see how the marble is inlaid with precious stones and jewels. Unfortunately for them we are not willing tourists and avoided buying anything. It did however give us an apreciation of the hard work that goes in to creating some of the beautiful handicrafts.

We only spent one night in Agra.
