Second day in Hpa-An starts again with a good breakfast and then I am in search of yesterday's driver for another day on motorbike to discover more of Hpa-An's countryside. (Mireille was going to leave today but she decided to have a rest day.)

In no time at all I am off to visit "Kyaut Ka Lat" which is called the Water Lake Monastery in the Lonely Planet.  I found it to be amazing and spent considerable time here.  While I was here a couple who was just married arrived to pray and receive blessings. They were dressed in the traditionnal wedding garments and I found out that it is tradition to visit monastaries to give thanks and receive blessings on a couple's wedding day.  I also was present to the "hair cutting" ceremony of a local becoming a monk.  I then climbed up the Water Lake Monastery and did a lovely meditation while a monk was chanting just a few feet away.  What a great morning this turned out to be.

The afternoon was spent visiting different caves outlined in the Lonely Planet - Kawgun Cave and Yathaypyan Cave, both covered with thousands of miniature clay and stone carved Buddhas as well as numerous buddha statues.

I totally enjoyed my visits in Hpa-An and specially the countryside and am taking the bus back to Moulmein tomorrow.

Anybody visiting this area of Myanmar should not miss Hpa-An and the surrounding sites.
