Had a decent egg and toast breakfast at Breeze Rest House and then,  Mireille, Luc (from
Quebec) and I  walked around to discover what Moulmein had to offer. The morning was soon over and Mireille and I were off on motorbike taxis to catch the 1 pm boat.  We arrived in Hpa-An around 7 pm and then it was the mad rush to get to a hotel before all the other foreigners on the same boat.  A fellow traveller at Breeze Rest House had recommended a hotel and we tried to sneak to it without everyone seeing where we were going!!!!!!  We did make it and had huge rooms but others that had reserved(!!!!!) did get the rooms with a view!!!!  (Joke was on us!!!) We settled each in our rooms and then Mireille and I went out in search of diner.  One thing you need to know is that in Myanmar if you haven't had diner before 6:30  there is probably nothing left to eat at the restaurants. All the prepared dishes are finished except for one "pot" which is usually still full. This means that if locals won't eat it, you probably don't want to eat it neither.  This was the case at all the restaurants close to the hotel.  True to Myanmar culture, they will do their best to try and help you out. So, as we are trying to see if there is anything they can make us, one of the family members (most restaurants are a family affair) had made a wild dash somewhere and returns with 4 eggs in his hands!!  (One thing that Asia has taught me is that if everything else fails there are always eggs!!!! to eat and at this point it is a nice break from noodles!!!!) So in no time at all we are sitting down for tea and diner!!!!

Mireille and I plan to be up early to do much sight seeing as Mireille will only be here for the day and I have only two days to get all the sight seeing in before heading back to Moulmein

Did you need any special document to go to Hpa-an?

Greetings, No I did not need any special documents, papers. I took the government boat from Moulmein (Mawlamyine) to Hpa-An. It runs twice a week. It is really worth the visit and don't miss Water Lake Monastery (Kgaut Ka Lat. I hired a driver and moto for two days to visit the sites around Hpa-An and well worth it.
