We met our first South Africans on our ferry across the Atlantic - although we were on the same boat we were actually heading in opposite directions. We swapped a couple of tips, got an update on the cricket score (SA 1 - Aus - 0). After an insanely fast taxi ride into town (I had to check whether he learnt to drive in SA).

We have developed a new tactic to finding accommodation. We find an internet cafe and one of stay there with the bags, while the other inspects all the accommodation in the area. Since Wendy has minimum requirements, this time she went round San Telmo. Returning in 4 Pesos worth of internet, she has managed to find an unlisted accommodation in a private university residence - definitely the best accommodation thus far with free internet, breakfast etc. We would not have found this in any book!

We headed off to the microcentro on foot (as usual) down Florida Road, lined with shops and people trying to sell you leather jackets, did we make a wrong turn and in up in Istanbul?

We decided to have dinner in Palemero, it was wonderful!  We thought that we would go to the parrilla that Lonely Planet reckoned that you should definitely eat at in BA, but it seemed that the rest of the Lonely Planeters had the same idea.  We ended up at a wonderful Mexican inspired place, just down the road.  We caught a taxi home - this driver had been to the same driving school as the first!
