Cairns and up to Daintree
Jan 01, 2007
We flew up to Cairns and off to Daintree villiage in the wet tropics world heritage area. We had three cars and 10 people, all from the wedding. We stayed in Diantree valley haven, and the best thing about this place was the insects and birds. The butterflys and moths are incredible, and we saw myriads. We saw the largest moth in the world, the hercules moth, and some wonderful birds called rainbow bee-eaters. We did a slow boat trip on the estaurine river and saw one croc and some cool plants, kingfishers and a tree snake. This stay has been quite different from the rest of our trip because of the large group we are in, but the wildlife is incredible. We are next heading to stay at Noah's beach, camping out near cape tribulation, and still in Daintree. We will update more soon and hopefeully some good pics!
