May 5, 2010  Woke up at 0600, read my bible, had my coffee went to breakfast all after a very restful sleep. On the advise of the motel attendant I did not leave until 0930. So I caught up on laundry prior to leaving. So I begin the great climb up the tallest mountain that I will ever climb. Way way up and then twisty turny round and round for the next hour. Again pretty frightening but also very beautiful I wished so much that I could pull over and take some pictures but no such luck . There were a few spots where some truck drivers pulled over so I followed them and took a few shots but they are no where near the reality of what I was seeing. So sorry I cannot share this beauty with you, it was magnificant. All the while CD's playing about Mary our Mother just so inspirational. I thought well maybe someday I will take up painting and from my memory attempt to share this joyfull experience. Next I actually cross the border into California and was hoping now for a flat drive from here to Pittsburg but guess what more mountains.  As said about Elijah in 1Kings 19vs 4, I felt like sitting under a broom tree and saying this is enough.  But then an Angel tapped me on the shoulder and said eat so I did and I gained my strength and continued my journey. Now the mountains stopped and I was driving on plain jane boring Hwy's what a relief. Texas and it's flat land will look great to me from now on. Next I see that I am about to cross a large body of water beautiful saphire blue water but guess what I now have to get on a long, long bridge to get to the other side Yikes!!!! This was Lake Shasta. Very lovely but again frightening because I have been traumatized by all my experiences, I actually think the cells of my body recorded the trauma and any little unexpected change made me cringe but I conquered it. Yeah!!!!!!!!  Now flat and boring again Yes!!!!! It continued on like this for almost the remainder of my drive to Patty and Dave's home in Pittsburg. I did have a few more water ways closer to Patty's house and a short time of heavy traffic near the end of my journey for today. When I arrived at Patty's we sat down with a nice glass of Zinfandel wine and caught up on 6 years of our lives. Wow. Pictures posted of her home and her husband. We had lovely dinner of roast beef and mashed potatoes and gravy and green beans followed more wine. This time Riesling. Fun, fun, fun. No more MOUNTAINS.
Blessings to all who read this. Please post a comment on travel pod because I am going to make this into a book and it will be much more interesting with your comments.

The picture with the view of the truck and the mountains reminds me of the trip from Flagstaff.AZ. to Phoenix,AZ. Such a beautiful drive.

You probably are going to see some beautful scenes with the ocean

Bonnie, Remember the bridge near Jekyll Island.? You conquered that one and, no doubt, all those that follow. Your food pictures are making me hungry. Stay safe and enjoy the journey.
