After wild brainstorm-sessions with Otto supported by a large selection of guide books, help from my Russian colleague Ksenia deciphering Russian train timetables and lots of patience on the side of our contact within the travel agency, Otto and I inhaled deeply and at long last booked our tickets for the Trans-Siberian Railroad. Joy! Happiness! Bliss! The date of departure has finally been set!!
Friday, June 17th, at 10.00 a.m. my plane to Moscow will take off from Düsseldorf, marking the beginning of my journey and probably leaving me with a mixed feeling of excitement and sorrow.. The last few days I woke up with a strange sensation in my stomach, an itchy feeling, could this be nerves? I realized this weekend that I have only a little more than five weeks left until my departure, while there still is so much left I need to do, want to do and regret to do..
For now I will attempt to blindfold my feelings and take advantage of my stubborn character in finalizing the preparations for my journey: canceling my subscription to life in the Netherlands..
