Hola,

Well I finally managed to leave Guanajuato, two days late never the less but I made it to Oaxaca (wah-HAA-ka) in SW Mexico on the overnight bus at 5am this morning. I'm quickly learning that the hardest thing about this travelling malarky is saying goodbye to places. Leaving the UK was pretty bad, but after having such a great time in Guanajuato (and in Mex city), meeting so many cool folk, then leaving it after such a short time is near impossible. I could've easily stayed there for a month or two. This may have had something to do with some young chica bonita delaying my departure but....

The last week up in Gto was mahem, the Mexican/Canandian crazy crew I was hanging around with were all beer monsters who seemed to be throwing house parties all night, every night. I was kinda hoping the old beer belly might be burned off - fat chance!

Drove to a place called "La Gruta", a volcanic hot spring in a wee red VW Beetle with
the director of the school, a really nice Mexican lady. Itīs a series of pools really hot and deep at the top, getting shallower and cooler as the water ran down the hill, all set in colourful tropical gardens. To get to the top pool you hade to wade/swim down a narrow tunnel chest deep in red hot water, at the end was a huge stone cavern and deep pool with brilliant rays of sunlight coming down through cracks in the ceiling, hot water gushing thru cracks in the wall, was pretty amazing. Could only stay there for 5-10 mins a time though cos was so hot...

Also visited "Museo de las Mommias". One of the most bizzare places I think I'll ever see. A few years ago, the Mexicanos were running out of space in their graveyard, so they decided anyone that wasn't paying for their upkeep would be exhumed. Of course half these poor feckers had died long ago so no-one was paying for them. Anyway when they dug the b@stards up, they were mummified by the dry atmos and unique mineral content of the soil! So what do the Mexicans do... put them in glass boxes on full show for the public!!! They're totally obsessed wi death these guys. There was pregnant mummies, naked mummies, baby mummies, the smallest mummie in the world (7" tall, looked like a baby alien!)

mummies with disintigrated tits/tongues/dicks/faces/eyeballs/etc... The funniest thing was most of them looked like they were laughing their heads off!

Went to Monte Alban today, one of the oldest pre-hispanic sites in Mexico. A series of intricate Zapotec temples atop a mountain at the convergence of three of the biggest Valles in south Mexico.

The site was spectacular, so were the views. Tomoz off down some canyon, then I'm gonna hit La Playa!

Anyway, enough o ma sh1te, I'm off oot again!

ENJOY!
