We go to Pai by minivan and when we pass other tourists sitting in the back of a pickup truck while its raining we are glad we paid a little more. We drive into the with jungle trees covered mountains. Pai is a very quiet and relaxed little town. We have a bed in one of the many little cabins you can find here. It's a nice feeling that camping feeling. In the afternoon we walk through town a little and look around for tours and trips. Then we find Pairadiso, which is a place where you can watch dvd's in a private room with a nice lazy couch. A great plan! Finally watching a movie you really want to watch without people disturbing you. At night we watch Monster!
The next morning we have a quiet and relaxed morning and in the afternoon we go for a nice long walk. We walk toward the temple and we have to climb 353 stairs to get there. The view of the hills and the valley is worth it. We are welcomed with a cup of tea and we talk to the monk. Because a monk cannot touch anything a woman has touched we show each other things on two identical maps. In the temple we see you have to be careful with candles since the altar was gone. Even with experienced people this sometimes goes wrong. We walk on country roads and a dog follows us for quite a long time. Finally it turns around and goes home. When we are almost home Jeroen steps on a dead snake.(ieeh!). At night when I type another story Jeroen goes out for a walk and comes back with quite a story! A large brown snake of over a meter crossed the road right in front of him. (pheuw, was I glad I was sitting behind the computer). We eat at Pai corner where they have an all-you-can-eat buffet, which gives you a nice opportunity to sample different Thai dishes. Nice.
Tip 1 Want to play some soccer with police as your opponents??? No problem! Just ask where you can register for that. Probably at "the house of glass" tip 2 Staying in an a-shaped cabin for only 110 baht (2.20 euro) The family house: in front of the temple to the left, towards golden hut
