Ulaan Bator, mongolie 10-5-2004 Early in the morning we arive in Ulaan Bator ( the capital of Mongolia). The moment we open our eyes we see the typical landscape. Bare hills with a few gers ( a round tent) and some horses. Everybody is very impressed A lot of people from hostels are waiting for us at the trainstation. But everybody is friendly a not pushy at all. We booked a hostel but take a few businesscards. When we arive at our hostel it isn't there anymore. A very friendly man, who speaks english, helps us. He takes us to his office and starts calling people. He works for a project of the UN. The project is about the damage humans and naturedisasters kan do to the enviroment.
Our hostel is really gone so he sends his secretary with us to show us another hostel. After a first look at this place we decide to look further. 2 hours later we finaly found a place. Nassan rents out rooms in a normal appartment building. We get the big room at her mothers house. This is a kind of "homestay". But everything is perfect and clean. The shower is clean, we an use the kitchen, we get the keys to the frontdoor and all the codes for the securitydoors, she does our laundry and we get a very good price on a tour. We walkes around in the city and feel very comfertable. De peolpe are realy very friendly and willing to help. And most of them speak english wich is very convenient 'cause we only now 4 words mongolian
