If I haven't told you already, the Trace goes from Nashville, TN to Natchez, MS. It is about 450 miles of two lane road through a beautiful green wonderland. This road was originally a path through the woods and is centuries old.  At one spot the sign indicated it was habitated around 8,000 BC!  We saw unknown Confederate grave sites in the woods just off the Trace and Indian Mounds used by ancient peoples for both rituals and shelters.

At noon we stopped at Parkway Visitors Station and were warned of an incoming storm with hail, strong winds and rain, but the storm was to the north so we continue south and got away from it.

The park we stayed in was almost empty but it was the nicest because of level paved parking pads and as soon as we parked the rains came.

Jim just stopped "somewhere" and we are in the middle of a Habitat for Humanity community - I just saw a sign, we are in Baton Rouge. He talked to a couple women who told him they would take him right into New Orleans.

Great to hear you are headed south! I think that is awesome that you ended up in a habitat community...what a perfect place for you both. Hope all is well and we are thinking about you all and Sadie and praying for you folks!

I like seeing the stories in all of the pictures. History is much more interesting with the real pictures.
