We are at Dixon Springs State Park tonight, 26 miles from Paducah, KY. Destination stop-National Quilt Museum. Since we drove to New Harmony today I checked out how far Paducah was and what a treat for me - it really wasn't out of the way. I'm really excited to take it all in tomorrow.

We left New Ross after saying goodbye to Beth, Mary & Arvin about 8:30 AM and headed south and west. We stopped in New Harmony, a town founded by Father George Rapp, who established a separatist Lutheran community in the early 1800s and it only lasted about 18 years.  The premise was Unity.  After visiting a few stores/shops looking for a place to buy post cards and an ice cream float we decided no one was that interested in us and most of the stores were closed. It was in the 90s, hot and humid. We left town and crossed into Illinois on our way to Kentucky.

As a side note, as we pulled under the shade of some large trees, Jim says "are we going to make it under" I say "sure" as the Thule cartop carrier tumbles off the top of the Mothership to the street below, still attached to the ski rack. We collected the stuff from the carrier and left the Thule neatly standing by the garbage can in the alley close by.

It is only 6:00 now, Jim is taking Sadie for a walk and I'm enjoying the cool inside of the camper. I felt withdrawal from the internet today because the car charger we bought a week ago is not keeping my computer charged and since Jim's computer fell out of the camper to the asphalt in Springfield, I can't get him connected at all. Now we both have to share my computer to get online.

Tomorrow the Quilt Museum and then over to Nashville and south on the Natchez Trace Parkway thru Tennessee, Alabama to Natchez, Mississippi. I understand there on no big trucks allowed and it is a very beautiful, scenic drive.

All for now and maybe a few pictures.
