Today we left Croftamie and drove to Edinburgh for 2 days. We parked the car in a paid parking lot and took the bus into central Edinburgh. We got tickets for the hop-on hop-off tour bus and headed for the Royal Mile. We walked the whole length, had lunch, walked some more, had dinner at a pub and then back to our car. We then drove to a B&B that we rented for the night. The house was built in 1867. It was very nice. The next day we took the bus back downtown and went to Edinburgh Castle. It is one of the best preserved castles in Scotland. After leaving Edinburgh, we stoppped at Linlithgow Castle for a tour before heading back to Croftamie. The next day we headed to the Falkirk Wheel and Bannockburn battlefield. The Falkirk Wheel replaced 11 locks on the river that connects Edinburgh with Glasgow. It raises or lowers boats 110 feet in 4 minutes. It is an engineering marvel! It is the only one in the world. Bannockburn battlefield is where Robert the Bruce defeated the English in 1314 to help secure Scotlands independence. The next day (July 4) was a partly sunny day. We drove to Lake Mentieth and took a boat over to a small island and toured the Inchmahome Priory. It was built in 1238. It was really cool. We then drove to Loch Lomond and took a boat trip for an hour. Saturday it was raining, so we found a castle, some gardens and a house to tour. The house is called Hill House and was designed by a famous Scottish architect. Today we stayed home, cleaned, did laundry and watched Formula 1.

Glasgow
I think I've run into Robert-the-Bruce on Polk Street. Janice
