What the...?
Entry 47 of 47 | show all | print this entry |
GE: What? ME: What? GE: I thought you'd already had the final entry ME: Oh yeah I had GE: Then what the hell is this? ME: This is the result of withdrawal symptoms GE: From what? ME: Writing GE: But you're not even travelling any more
I know, I know. This all seems a little strange. Just when you thought you were rid of those annoying little Travelpod notification emails you go and get another one 6 months later. Has it been that long!? So you may be thinking "What the hell are you playing at Bobby?" or - more likely - you're thinking "HURRAH! I once again have something to look forward to in life!" ;-)
Well? What am I playing at? I've decided that I miss writing. I took great pride, and spent a lot of time and effort writing those entries when I was wandering around the world, and judging from some of the feedback I've had from various people... It showed. Thanks again to those people.
Now don't worry... This is not going to turn into one of those personal blogs where people write about their issues with the opposite sex, exchange recipes, and tell you all about the best way to make toast. Oh no. The emphasis here is strictly on travel. Always has been, and always will be. Unfortunately the locations won't be quite as remote, or culturally astounding as they were. We're talking Europe and the U.K. so considering a lot of you live here and couldn't care less, you might want to unsubscribe. On the other hand, most people in the U.K. have only ever visited towns and villages within a 5 mile diameter of their home town so it could actually be something of a revelation to find out what's going on in say, Great Barlow or Bushville or Bobbington. I just made those up, but they sound like they could be real.
Since being back in this glorious country I have already managed to visit Germany, and have taken my first foray into... THE NORTH. Yes ladies and gentlemen, I have gone where many a southerner would not dare to go. Wages and house prices are low, skirts ride higher the colder it gets, and people say "chuddy" instead of chewing gum. The mind baffles. In fact I found this unusual area of England so intriguing that I intend to return with a couple of friends in January for a tour of epic proportions - Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds and Newcastle are all among the desired destinations. Not to mention a climbing trip in the Peak District around April if all goes to plan.
So... this is the first of (I hope) many new posts. I hope you enjoy them.
P.S. It's actually the 18th of November. I cleverly back-dated this post so that all the posts would be in order.

recipes (reply) Nov 19, 2007 12:08 EST by chazzbo
but what's wrong with exchanging recipes? I can make a mean pumpkin + cinnamon curry if anyone's interested?
By the way, I do recommend Newcastle, I was pleasantly surprised by it. Nice old buildings and a river and everything. Also a late night coffee bar which does a great Baileys coffee. mmmmmm
