Pit stop for Mexican insurance and laptop. Now I can update. Pocket PC was a bad idea. OK, right about now I'll admit maybe the whole trip was a bad idea. Froze two nights in a row, spent half a day lost in San Antonio (and most of them speak English here), and the best advice I was given was not to watch the gangs shoot each other when I get to Mexico. Being a witness is not a good thing. AAA sent me to Mexican consulate to get my paperwork so I could avoid the lineup tomorrow. I eventually found it only to find it closed for the day.

Lots of deer on the road this morning - missed them all. Rabbits are like our gophers and plenty of pheasants. Getting good at dodging moving things. No regrets for the extra lights, except for other drivers start flicking their highbeams about 2 miles away.

Lots of good pics today. Even had to turn around once to get a good picture of longhorn cattle. What's a trip to Texas without a picture of them.

Not counting my half-day of wandering today, I only missed 4 turns in the whole drive. One was a bad 20 mile detour - noticed the sun on the wrong side of the truck.

Sitting in Best Buy getting an alarm put in the truck. This way when I am on the john I can hear a siren go off when my truck gets stolen. Beats sitting with the door open.

Mexico bound in the morning after a pit stop at Walmart for an oil change at Brownsville.

Re: door on the john?
Yeah, there are doors but they are positioned about 12' too close to the seat for me to be able too close them. They are made for 5' people. Nothing worries a Mexican more than a pair of size 16 boots sticking out from under an ajar john door.
